The Houston Police Department will be helping to raise research funds for THE CURE STARTS NOW HOUSTON cancer fundraiser, which is dedicated to finding a cure for all cancers, starting first with the most deadly – Pediatric Brain Cancer.
Your support will help some of the youngest Texans battling this deadly childhood cancer, which is called Diffuse Intrinsic Pontine Glioma or DIPG.
Many experts believe a cure for DIPG will help advance a cure to most cancers, and ALL HPD personnel – civilian support and classified – can participate, as follows:
- Female employees can participate in this fundraiser by clicking on the “COLOR FOR THE CURE” link below and donate a MINIMUM of $50. When you donate $50 or more, you will be able to wear BRIGHT fingernail polish – to include while in uniform – starting November 1, 2019, through November 30th. This would include painting each nail a different color. Bedazzle them or go for a BOLD FALL MANICURE.
Although the COLOR FOR THE CURE link includes “colorful hairstyles” in addition to colorful nail polish, the department’s female participation will ONLY include colorful nail polish. Colorful hairstyles will be prohibited.
- Male employees can support the cause and participate in this fundraiser by clicking on the “BEARD IT UP” link below and donate a MINIMUM of $50. When you donate $50 or more, you will be able to grow and wear facial hair, such as a goatee OR beard – to include while in uniform – starting November 1, 2019, through November 30th.
PLEASE NOTE
- Although both links have a minimum donation of $30, Chief Acevedo has directed that department participation requires a minimum donation of $50.
- If you would like to donate the full $50, please click increase my donation amount to cover fees, a 2.5% processing fee will be added to your credit card.
- Also, the department will be able to review and validate employee participation by way of monitoring donations made in advance.
