Mrs. Jewell Verdia Jefferson passed away on Wednesday, May 18, 2016, at the age of 88. She is the grandmother of Police Officer Randall W. Kelley, Jr., assigned to the Special Victims Division. Services were held May 25 with burial in Houston National Cemetery.

Ms. Erica McFadden, 34, passed away on Friday, April 22, 2016. She is the sister of Senior Police Officer Eric K. Carr, assigned to the Burglary and Theft Financial Crimes Unit. She was the victim of a tragic domestic violence incident. Services were held April 30.

Mr. Catarino Meza passed away on Sunday, May 15, 2016. He is the grandfather of Jail Attendant Isael Alvarado, Jr., assigned to the Jail Division. Services were held May 20.

Police Officer Jonathan Ngar, assigned to the Crime Analysis Division, lost his father-in-law and mother-in-law within one week apart. Mr. Edward H. ‘Big Ed” Mohr, 88, died from congestive heart failure on April 26, 2016. He is the father-in-law of Police Officer Jonathan Ngar. Mr. Mohr served in the South Pacific during World War II and received the WWII Victory Medal, he was survived by his wife, Isabelle Mohr. Mrs. Isabelle Schmidt Mohr, 88, died of cancer on May 3, 2016. She is the mother-in-law of Police Officer Ngar. Services were held May 28 with burial in Southeast Louisiana Veterans Cemetery in Slidell, Louisiana
