Minutes for the August 2024 Membership Meeting

OPENING

Douglas Griffith called the meeting to order with the Pledge of Allegiance.

 

DEDICATION

Meeting dedication for Officer Gonzalo Q. Gonzalez, EOW February 28, 1960.

SPECIAL PRESENTATIONS

Greg Fremin and personnel with HFD and DPS presented information about the 911 Heroes Run which, this year, is Saturday, September 7th. Sign up today.

Tim Whitaker announced ATO events going on today. Model car sales are going on in the hallway.  All proceeds from today will go to Sgt. Catherine Brown’s family.

Tim Whitaker announced that the benefit for Officer Paul Henry was a great success even with the weather.  Raised over $53k for him.  Officer Henry is here today and still fighting his battle with cancer.

 

PATROL OFFICER OF THE MONTH / INVESTIGATOR OFFICER OF THE MONTH

Officers of the month – Officers Jose O. Gutierrez and Jose V. Gutierrez with Northeast Division.

Investigator of the month – Detectives Lauren Tucker and Katelyn Howton with Special Victims Division.

 

TREASURER’S REPORT

The motion to accept the treasury report was made by Debbie Lahaie, second by Tim Whitaker, motion carried. The report is on the table and available upon request from Tim Butler.

 

COMMUNICATIONS

Suspended cases issue is still ongoing.  Poorly handled by prior administration which led to Finner being removed.  Internal issues are continuing with the handling of the investigation.

The new chief is coming next week and will see how things are handled and move around after that time.

The fire contract is out, and the city council is handling all the issues with it.  Our contract will be coming up at the end of the year.  Please send all recommendations to Info@HPOU.org

Please give monthly to PAC if you are not already doing so.

Officers in crisis, how can we help? Tell people about the problem. City policy needs to change.  AA meetings have started at union hall.

Shut down rumors and get the truth out.

Resources are there to help all around, but we do not know what we are not told so get information out to those that can help.

The ATO has ongoing fundraisers. Golf Tournament is on October 17th, sign up today. More fundraisers and events are coming up.  Thank you to Tim Whitaker for all you do.
