Minutes for the June 1, 2023 Membership Meeting

OPENING 

Douglas Griffith called the meeting to order with the Pledge of Allegiance.

Officer of the month Francisco Rodriguez with Southwest Division.

Investigator of the month Dawn Scheer with Special Victims Division.

 

TREASURER’S REPORT

The motion to accept the treasury report was made by Ken Nealy, second by Art Mejia, motion carried. The report is available upon request to Tim Butler.

 

COMMUNICATIONS

Thank you to Pappas Restaurants, Inc. for helping give food to our fallen officers’ families during the HPD Police Memorial service and all else you do for the city.

Please give to PAC if you are not doing so.

Austin bill for DROP did not pass.  HPOPS there for all pension questions.

Officers in crisis, how can we help? Tell people about the problem. City policy needs to change.  AA meetings coming soon at union hall.

Resources are there but do not need about everything and need to know about things.

Shut down rumors and get the truth out.

Holiday schedules and CST shift adjustments, policy changes.

New updated to the PAT, row machine available.

New policy by DA office for drug charges.  It is to help keep charges with testing, judges not DA.

ATO has on going fundraisers.  Golf tournament in October.  Sign up.

Family leave is now active but there are still a lot of questions and HPOU is trying to get answers from the city.  Many people off currently, 300+.  City will be updating policy.

Remember to sign up for Online ID protection at the 3rd floor.

Gunshot Rider policy has now been updated to include stabbings as well.

Next meeting is Thursday, August 3rd.  No July meeting as usual.
