Minutes for the October 2024 Membership Meeting

OPENING

Douglas Griffith called the meeting to order with the Pledge of Allegiance.

 

DEDICATION 

Meeting dedication for Officer William “Ponce” DeLeon, EOW March 29, 1982.

SPECIAL PRESENTATIONS

Hal DeLeon, brother of fallen Officer William “Ponce” DeLeon, was presented with a replica of his brother’s badge.

Officer Scott Durfee who was shot in the line of duty recently was presented with a check thanks to Michael Berry and ATO.

Jesus Robles presented information for the Shields of Christ retreats coming up.  Get with him for more information and to sign up. Men’s and Women’s separate retreats.

 

PATROL OFFICER OF THE MONTH / INVESTIGATOR OFFICER OF THE MONTH

Officers of the month:

Officers Cameron Scoby and Nicolas Ruiz Valbuena with South Gessner Division.

Investigator of the month:

Detective Blake Roberts with Homicide Division.

 

TREASURER’S REPORT

The motion to accept the treasury report was made by Debbie Lahaie, second by Tim Whitaker, motion carried. The report is on the table and available upon request from Tim Butler.

 

COMMUNICATIONS

No negotiations, no talks, no meetings yet on the new contract.

Contract grievance has been filed against the city for record after the fact.  No response currently. Items have been filed with IAD as well.

Commanders are now back to Captains.

Commander Collins is heading up IAD now, has been outstanding so far.  Many cases have been handled the way they should have and worked with the union and the chief to handle issues properly.  Issues are handled quicker than before.

Suspended cases issue is still ongoing.  No updates presented to ADC at this time.  The investigation should be wrapping up soon.

Board Member elections are about to begin.

Please give monthly to PAC if you are not already doing so.

Officers in crisis, how can we help? Tell people about the problem. City policy needs to change.  AA meetings have started at union hall.

Shut down rumors and get the truth out.

Resources are there to help all around, but we do not know what we are not told so get information out to those that can help.

The ATO has ongoing fundraisers. Golf Tournament is on October 17th, sign up today. More fundraisers and events are coming up.  Thank you to Tim Whitaker for all you do.

Remember to sign up for Online ID protection on the 3rd floor.
